Tony Roma's: Back-to-back Ribs

Thanks to a discount voucher, we were able to score buy 1 take 1 full rack ribs with a side of coleslaw, and a choice of corn, rice, or fries.

Ribs were tender in general and easy to separate from the bone. Most of the flavor was on the bbq sauce.

The fries were salted just right. Some even had some sort of flavor perhaps from the juices of the ribs.

To refresh the pallette, take a bite from the coleslaw.

For the ambiance, the store's entrance downstairs had a more bar-like feel with all the dim lights and the actual bar being downatairs. It's also a bit cramped up down there. But upstairs is where groups can dine together with a more sunny ambience a a little view of the shopping complex.

Kimukatsu: Katsu with Layers of Flavor

Some time last December, we dined at Kimukatsu. They serve layered tonkatsu with different varieties. We also had an online discount voucher for this.

Pretty interiors. We went on a weekday so the place was not that full. Only 2 other groups were dining.

The Set Meal
Each set meal includes unlimited rice, cabbage salad, soup, pickled vegetables, and tea. The cabbage was served in a single bowl.

The rice was in a single wooden container which had the katakana characters spelling out ki-mu-ka-tsu. We each had our own bowl of soup and saucer of pickles.

Condiments were readily available on each table

The white miso soup option was mild in taste.

The red miso soup option had a more prominent flavor.

The Katsu
The katsu were already cut when it arrived on our table together with the set meal.

Cheese

The creamy cheese oozes from the slice. The cheese was not strong in taste, just a gentle creaminess to match the crispy coating.

Yuzu Kosho

The layering is more evident in this one. It was a little sour coming from the yuzu.

We finished two whole servings of rice and 2 and a half servings of the cabbage., and half of the sesame dressing.

Hattendo: Chilled Cream Buns

A few months back, Hattendo had a promo on their cream buns: 150 for two buns of any flavor. I got 2 of my favorite azuki red bean, a piece of matcha, and another piece for chocolate.

Azuki Red Bean

This is my favorite among the three flavors I tried. Flavored chilled cream plus actual azuki beans add texture to the filling. I also don't see a lot of azuki flavored desserts around the country so I consider this a little different from the usual dessert offered by other stores.

Matcha

It's actually not sweet, but not too strong on the tea taste either. Of course it was still creamy. Perfect for those who prefer the less sweet desserts.

Chocolate

A classic flavor, chocolate always fulfills my comfort food needs. It was like having the goodness of a fresh milk chocolate shake in cream form within a soft bun.

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf: Sweet Teas Open House 2016

Summer is here and so is CBTL's new Sweet Teas. It's the new summer drink with the sweetness of fruit. Swirl rewards card holders got to try this for free from 11 AM to 1 PM today, a day ahead of everyone else. It will be available to others starting tomorrow, April 4, 2016.

Today, I got to try the Pear Berry Ice Blended drink. It's a little refreshing sweetness (but not too sweet) to cool you down from the summer heat. BERRY-licious and PEAR-rific indeed. See, it already got me thinking about fruit puns. Passion Fruit and Red Orange flavors are also available. They also have these over ice.

Also tried the Pistachio Pound Cake Slice today. A compact cake slice topped with cream and pistachios.

Just a little note, I liked the spring inspired design of the tray's paper mat.

McDonald's:National Breakfast Day 2016

Mcdo celebrated the importance of breakfast at this year's National Breakfast Day last March 14, 2016. And what better way to celebrate than free McMuffins!!

This year, free McMuffins were given to those who lined up between 6pm to 7pm. Drive thru cars included. I got to experience this event for the first time.

We arrived at Mcdonald's Blue Bay Walk at around 6:10 am, and we were already handed coupons #78 and #79.

Just ten minutes just passed after starting time and 77 other people already got their coupon!

The line starts outside and they let in ten people at a time when the lines shorten.

It was around 6:20 when we got inside and got our McMuffins.

Then just as when we got our goodies, a celebrity couple appeared from the other side of the counter!

From the famous loveteam Aldub, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza greeted everyone with a "Best Monday Ever"!!

Now to the muffins:

One of us got a Sausage McMuffin while I got an Egg McMuffin.

We halved the muffins and got a taste of both. We prefer the Egg McMuffin since the sausage version seemed a little salty for our taste. The Egg McMuffin had an egg and a slice of ham. A Sausage Egg McMuffin, the one with both a sausage and an egg, would have fit the bill perfectly since the egg would balance out the saltiness. But it was not in free McMuffin options.

Free McMuffins and a bonus celebrity sighting - best Monday ever!

Krispy Kreme: Emoji Magic Coupon

Valentine's Season isn't over yet!

Get 2 sprinkled donuts with 5 emojis for free! Yes, you can get free doughnuts and design it with emojis. I brought 2 friends with me so 3 people with 2 sprinkled doughnuts each, we got 6 doughnuts in total. To redeem, just follow the easy steps below.

1) Download the Krispy Kreme app and create and click Sign Up to create your account.
2) Check the question posted in Krispy Kreme's Facebook page.
3) Enter the answer in the enter coupon code portion of the app (Rewards > Enter Promo Code). You then receive an electronic coupon.
4) Present the electronic coupon to a Krispy Kreme store to redeem.

We weren't able to stick the emoji's on the doughnut since it was already covered with sprinkles and the glaze was no longer sticky. Instead, we just put the emojis on top of the doughnut and took pictures. Then at one point, we stuck one end of the emoji on the dough so that it won't slide away.

But be quick! Each coupon is only valid for 3 days. The coupon we availed is valid only on Feb 18 - Feb 20. And according to their Facebook page, they have other things lined up for the rest of February. Wonder what we'll get next time?
