7 -Eleven: Slurpee Donuts

Well, with cakes being turned into drinks (red velvet shake, and other cake-shakes), why not turn drinks into baked goodies? Hence, we have Slurpee doughnuts brought to us by 7-Eleven.


Raspberry (Php 25)

Pretty sparkly sprinkles! These weren't really sweet. The cream gluing it to the dough isn't that sweet as well. It was actually quite bitter, probably imitating a cherry taste. This one was really interesting to look at. But I'd rather just look at it next time. The sparkles were really eye-catching though.



Peach (Php 25)

For me this was better in terms of taste. It had a faint orange taste. A simple layer of this orange glaze gave it flavor which was similar to the fruit flavored cereal I had as a kid. I guess the base of the doughnut is the same as the other one. Their toppings differentiate them from each other.



It was an interesting pair of doughnuts but I'd stick to my regular sprinkled or chocolate ones for now.

Krispy Kreme: Emoji Magic Coupon

Valentine's Season isn't over yet!

Get 2 sprinkled donuts with 5 emojis for free! Yes, you can get free doughnuts and design it with emojis. I brought 2 friends with me so 3 people with 2 sprinkled doughnuts each, we got 6 doughnuts in total. To redeem, just follow the easy steps below.

1) Download the Krispy Kreme app and create and click Sign Up to create your account.
2) Check the question posted in Krispy Kreme's Facebook page.
3) Enter the answer in the enter coupon code portion of the app (Rewards > Enter Promo Code). You then receive an electronic coupon.
4) Present the electronic coupon to a Krispy Kreme store to redeem.

We weren't able to stick the emoji's on the doughnut since it was already covered with sprinkles and the glaze was no longer sticky. Instead, we just put the emojis on top of the doughnut and took pictures. Then at one point, we stuck one end of the emoji on the dough so that it won't slide away.

But be quick! Each coupon is only valid for 3 days. The coupon we availed is valid only on Feb 18 - Feb 20. And according to their Facebook page, they have other things lined up for the rest of February. Wonder what we'll get next time?

Krispy Kreme: Free KK Monster Doughnut!

In this season of trick or treating, food is being spooky-fied as well. Take Krispy Kreme for example. And I was able to sample two doughnuts for free by following the steps below.

Just download the Krispy Kreme App, sign up, go to rewards and enter the code KKMONSTERS. Voila you get a coupon for a free doughnut! I got the Bat doughnut for my free item.

Aside from that, there is also another coupon that allows you to get a free coffee and Frankenstein doughnut. This promo is only available at selected branches.

Chewy Junior: Cream-filled Dessert

For an alternative dessert, we went to Chewy Junior to have some chewy cream-filled goodies.

My gastronomer friend had the New York Cheesecake. This one is vanilla cream filled with a creamy cheesy topping. It is also covered with cheesecake-crust-like powder.

I ordered the Java Chip Cookie that was covered with chocolate and topped with cream plus half an Oreo. As the name suggests, it has coffee cream filling. On my first bite, I got chocolate and cream on my face - a sweet mess I had to clean. This did not stop me from finishing the whole thing.

The consistency of the bread is similar to a Japanese doughnut - chewy. The creaminess comes from the filling while toppings determine the flavor. So if you have cheese toppings, you ought to get some saltiness. While if you have chocolate based toppings, you get more sweetness. These are perfect for snack time, dessert time, or for any time you need a little chewy-creamy fix.
